I was bored looking for something randomly to read and I saw this book with it’s gorgeous cover and decided to give it a try.

It is a standalone about a girl who’s chosen as a sacrifice to the war god in a dystopian-ish world and I think that’s all I got from this book really.

I mean there’s more to it but there’s too much squeezed into this standalone book because we’re introduced to a country that’s in the middle of war between two other countries and there’s so much politics in this book that it’s kind of confusing and I kind of didn’t care. Also they’re gods in this book and they also contribute to the war whether either instigating or ending and they’re kind of like the Greek Gods.

Of course the girl and the god of war fall in love and the romance to me was a bit insta-lovey but only because they didn’t have much interactions for them to fall in love but that’s just from my opinion.

This book wasn’t really that bad of a read but if it were a duology or maybe a trilogy than it’ll be a great series instead of jamming so much information into only 300 pages and not knowing exactly what’s going on in the background. Also it’s alternating POV between the girl and love interest so I’ll give the book a point for that because I prefer chapters with only the girl and the love interest.

in all honestly, I rate this 2 1/2 stars. It didn’t tell a bad story, I just don’t exactly know what the story was supposed to be about.

Thanks for reading! 💛

A god of war seeking restoration. An unwilling sacrificial bride. Betrayal that could destroy them both.

Every fiber of my being is woven from the rage of mortals.

Theodric, the young God of War, has a talent for inciting conflict and bloodshed. After being stripped of his powers by his older brother, King of Gods, he sets out to instigate a mortal war to prove himself worthy of being restored to power.

I loved Kisk once; it was my home… But that was before. This is now.

Sixteen-year-old Cassia, like many in the modern era, believes gods and goddesses to be just a myth. Enemy to her country and an orphan of the war, she has no time for fairy tales. That’s until religious zealots from Theo’s sect offer her up as a sacrifice.

Can Cassia and Theo end the mortal war and return balance to the earth and heavens? Or, will their game of fate lead down a path of destruction, betrayal, and romance neither of them saw coming?
